Expressions of love and romance will be on display throughout the month of February at the Allis-Bushnell House Museum. Some believe Valentine’s Day has its origins in the fertility celebrations held during Roman times. More likely is the story that a Catholic martyr named Valentine inspired the holiday. Whatever its origins, the MHS encourages everyone to attend this Valentine’s Day celebration of love and local heritage.
On Tuesday, February 14 from 5:30 – 7 PM, the MHS will host a celebration of love with an adults-only party. Vintage Valentines, wedding dresses, and other expressions of love and romance will be on display. Victorian punch, adult beverages, tasty morsels, and, of course, chocolates, will be served at the Allis-Bushnell House for this festive holiday event.
Local storyteller Jennifer Munro will offer a moving tale of familial love, and DHHS student and harpist Michelle Jiang will provide romance-inducing music. Discover how the Victorians did Valentine’s Day at this festive holiday celebration.
The registration fee is $20 per person or $15 for MHS members.
