Portrait of Jeheil Meigs

Early 1800’s oval portrait on rectangular wood stretcher. Paper label on back reads, “Mrs. J.M. Hand / portrait of Jehiel Meigs (1743-1776).
Provenance – Henry B. Meigs’ “Meigs Genealogy” (1901) states that the portrait was painted in Savannah, GA. Portrait seems to be of a man older than 35, and is of a later style than 1812. Identification may be incorrect – be Ohio Governor and US Postmaster General, Return Jonathan Meigs 2nd (1764-1825).
