A deep red velvet gown circa 1897 with short bouffant sleeves. The front bodice, epaulets, and double wrap skirt are of an ornately embroidered satin with bead trim. The satin is gathered in swags. The gown features a V-neck and closes with hook-n-eyes. Velvet forms a long train with a slight bustle. Clothier’s Tag inside, “Peter Robinson, Oxford St. Regent St. London”. It measures 54″ long having a 26″ waist. The court gown was worn by Mrs. Donaldson Clark (nee Katherine W. Harrison) in 1897. Donated by Dorothy Byrd Davis
